St. Patrick’s Day is not necessarily a green day for all

In the next paragraph I am going to talk about St. Patrick’s Day and my feelings on the day. If you feel strongly about it I suggest you may not wish to read it. If you want to hear my feelings then read on, by all means.

I realise that in some ways I’m merely repeating what Ellis says in his journal. But for me it’s more than just that. For many people, St. Patrick’s Day has turned into “just another excuse to get drunk day”. Many people don’t know about the political history of St. Patrick’s Day and that for some people (not just Pagans) it’s a day of mourning for them. The politics now-a-days has been swept aside and some people use today as a celebration of their heritage. If you want to celebrate your heritage, that’s fine. But I swear if I see one more small Asian girl decked out in green with a “kiss me I’m Irish t-shirt” there may be a homicide.
